Our proposal raises questions on what a museum has the potential to be nowadays and what is could be? How can this new museum create a vital, public and critical presence within the contemporary discourse?
The museum is seen as a combination of museum programs and the flux of city scale activities. A vertical plaza runs through the museum and opens the inner part of the building to the citizens, the vertical plaza is also an axial linking dash between the park and the harbor. We offset the border of this main volume and subtract its centre to create a loop and rotate the loop volume to respond to the topography of the facing park. We place back the subtracted volume at the centre of the loop, this volume host the art exhibition, and stands as the core element of the building. The volume is re-manipulated it to create distinct wings containing exhibition hall directing views towards distinct historic building located on the opposite shore.
The loop, iconic component of the project, has an overlaid structure which suspends tree, like a floating forest over the building. This floating forest acts as a camouflage of the icon, representing a triumph of nature over the built environment, a soft triumph, the nature seems to hug the building.
