Unit is planning and designing building phases for WFBI,a major player in the international footwear industry based in Southern China. Located in Dongguan, an area mainly driven by manufacturing activities, our proposal seek to recall the  the economy on which the region is sustaining. The project brings together all function who could possibly be related to shoes industry : research centre for shoes technology, exhibition and catwalk space, shopping mall and forum. Through the built forms, we want to honour the man-power work on which stands this glamourous industry. Our concept is to assemble and shape buildings through an analogy of the shoe making process.  We process by mapping the assemblage of the shoes, from the surfaces of the flat patron to its full objectification. Volumetric principles , as well as shape of surfaces, textures and junctions are re-interpreted in the design process. Just like shoes , the built forms come in pair, a strategy to activate interstitial spaces. The initiates can experiment  familiarity of recognizable shapes while the new comers can experience a stroll through a playful assemblage.
